The 2023 edition of A Pocket Guide to Cambodian Silk contains all the latest information on where to buy silk in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and weaving villages. That makes the 2023 edition of the Pocket Guide a great bargain, because it’s like two books in one. When I began studying the women of Angkor I discovered that only two of the seven groups of women on the walls of Angkor Wat had been identified correctly. Using Indian art history, Sanskrit, and a Chinese emissary’s account of Angkor in 1296 C.E., I identified the other five. And that’s what’s in the section I moved out of the 2024 edition.
